Ambassador Interview

What keeps you inspired to continue to train and be disciplined in your sport?

My goals of Olympic and World Championship medals inspire me during training. I have dreamed of being one of the best skiers in the world since I first started racing and it is always in the back of my head pushing me to work harder and be my best.

What is a piece of advice you would pass along to generations who aspire to follow in your footsteps?

Keep it loose and have fun. Make sure that you love what you are doing because there is no point if you are not enjoying it. Skiing and training can be grueling and tough work but if you find ways to make it fun at the same time, you will set yourself up for success.

Please share a fond memory of your time at the Olympics or another race/competition you competed in.

One of my favorite race memories is my first ever World Cup in Dresden, Germany. I qualified through US Nationals and didn’t even know that I was going to go until about a week out from the race. About 3 days before my flight to Germany I realized my passport was expired and had to scramble to get a new one in Chicago. It was pretty stressful until I actually got to Dresden but once I arrived the races went really well, and I scored my first World Cup points. It was a moment that gave me confidence in myself and my training and it was an amazing learning experience.

What is one thing you always do before a race/competition?

I always listen to music the night before a race to clear my mind and help out with some of the pre-race nerves. Right before bed I visualize the course and take some time to remember the training and preparation that I’ve done to get to that point.

What is something people don’t know about you and would surprise them?

Something that people might not know about me is that when I was younger, my favorite sport was soccer. I played for about 6 years and dreamed of being a professional soccer player. I didn’t really start enjoying Nordic skiing until I joined the middle school team in 6th grade.

What is one thing the SNOW Museum can do right now to support you?

The SNOW Museum could help me grow my personal brand so that when I leave college and I’m able to start seeking out sponsorships I will be better set up to sustain a career in skiing.

Why are you excited about supporting the SNOW Museum?

I am excited to support the SNOW Museum because I want to inspire future generations from Tahoe/Truckee love the sport of skiing. This sport and this community has helped me so much over the years and I think this is an incredible opportunity to give back.
