SVSMF and the Olympic Ski Museum Continue to Move Forward in Planning
In late December, the Placer County Planning Department provided initial feedback on the SVSMF’s Site Application and Environmental Questionnaire (EQ). Based on the feedback, SVSMF is scheduled to have consultants conduct a parking study and traffic study of Squaw Valley Park. We anticipate this work being completed in the next four to six weeks, and will report back after preliminary analysis becomes available.
SVSMF is also in the process of conducting a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for architectural services. RFQ submissions have been received and the SVSMF Building Committee is reviewing proposals currently. We anticipate approval of a firm at the next board meeting on March 7th.
SVSMF recognizes that there have been recreational updates within Squaw Valley Park in the last few years. We look forward to bringing on an architectural partner to work with us and other stakeholders to help shape the design of the proposed museum building and to engage the community as part of the design and development process.
On a related note, SVSMF has also reached out to the County Parks and Grounds Division to support their efforts as they rollout a Countywide Parks Master Plan process. We will provide updates as soon as we learn more about the County’s process plans and timeline.
Update as of February 21: The Placer County Board of Supervisors voted to approve $2M in TOT funds in support of 14 projects focused on improving amenities for visitors and residents including SVSMF’s request which will go towards the environmental review, architectural planning and design, and community outreach efforts.
